Locally-produced TV programmes have improved quite a bit over the past few years. Here are some that deserve a mention.

Ariana Rose

Tengku Adam (Keith Foo) is a well-known playboy who meets his match in Ariana Rose (Nur Fathia). No matter how hard he tries, he can’t seem to win her heart.

In February, 4.5 million viewers tuned in to catch the final episode of Ariana Rose. Viewers just can’t get enough of all the drama, intrigue and heartbreak that awaits its characters.

TV3 started airing reruns of the show recently and #arianarose became a trending topic on Twitter.

Rindu Awak 200%

Viewers couldnt get enough of Zul Ariffin and Ayda Jebat in Rindu Awak 200%.

Three words sums up the popularity of Rindu Awak 200% – “Zill Faezrul Iqbal” aka the character played by Zul Ariffin.

Throughout the show, viewers wonder if the ever-patient, loving and pious husband will have enough of his wife’s (Armel played by Ayda Jebat) tendency to overreact over the smallest things.

As man as 4.4 million viewers tuned in to catch the last episode in September just to find out if the two are meant for each other.

MeleTOP
MeleTOP is a popular entertainment show hosted by Nabil Ahmad (right) and Neelofa on Astro.

There’s more to MeleTOP besides hosts Nabil Ahmad and Neelofa’s somewhat awkward banter on live television. Viewers also look forward to the hillarious Parodi segment featuring Jihan Musa and Azrul Raja Lawak.

MeleTOP is also where celebrity guests like Zain Saidin and Rozita Che Wan reveal exclusive details about their life to fans.

Kilauan Emas 4

Who doesn’t like fairy tale endings? In June, 1.69 million viewers watched odd job worker Omar Sharif Mat Din or Arip turn his life around with a RM100,000 win on Kilauan Emas 4
