Valerian And The City Of A Thousand Planets is based on a long-running French comics called Valérian Et Laureline. It made its debut in 1967 in Pilote magazine.
The comics ran for 21 volumes, with the final copy published in 2010. Said to be years ahead of its time, the comics' narrative influences are apparent in films like Star Wars and Avatar.
