A decade before he decided to come out as gay, singer Ricky Martin was put on the spot by journalist Barbara Walters in a 2000 television interview where she told him he could “stop these rumours” about his sexuality with a simple yes or no.

“There’s a little PTSD with that, ” the 49-year-old told People in a new cover story.
