The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has issued a statement on the Will Smith-Chris Rock slap that shocked the 94th Academy Awards. Smith took to the stage during the 2022 Oscars and slapped Rock after the comedian made a joke about Jada Pinkett Smith while presenting the documentary feature category.

The Academy said in a statement: "The Academy does not condone violence of any form.Tonight we are delighted to celebrate our 94th Academy Awards winners, who deserve this moment of recognition from their peers and movie lovers around the world."
