Pop superstar Taylor Swift has shared the second music video from her 10th album, Midnights, on her YouTube channel for the song Bejeweled.
It premiered at the stroke of midnight, Monday (Oct 24), US time. The music video quickly reached the 1 million mark in just one hour
As she did for Anti-Hero, the singer writes and directs the latest music video.
For Bejeweled, a song about self-confidence, she features a Cinderella-like story co-starring actress Laura Dern as "Stepmommy" and the Haim sisters – Esle, Helena and Danielle Haim – as the stepsisters.
Midnights' producer/writer Jack Antonoff makes a brief appearance as the prince.
On The Tonight Show, Swift told host Jimmy Fallon that the music video has "a psychotic amount" of Easter eggs embedded in the visuals.
"We have a PDF file for the Easter eggs in this video, because there are so many we could not keep track," she's reported saying.
Bejeweled music video arrives just as news broke that Swift has toppled multiple sales and streaming records with the Oct 21 release of Midnights.
The Los Angeles Times reported: "In just the first three days of its release, Midnights has already become the top-selling album of 2022. On Spotify, Midnights tallied 88 million streams in the US and 185 million worldwide in one day, besting Bad Bunny’s record of 183 million global streams for his album Un Verano Sin Ti. Swift also broke first-day records at Apple Music and Amazon Music."
According to a Billboard report, the album sold over 800,000 copies in the US in its first day, including streams, digital downloads, and CD, vinyl and cassette sales.
With Midnights, Swift claims the biggest sales week for any artiste since the 2017 release of her sixth studio album, Reputation, which sold 1.216 million copies in its first week, continued the LA Times article.
