In a column he wrote several years ago, Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan revealed that he went for an acupuncture procedure that left him red faced and in pain.
Shah Rukh had been diagnosed with prolapsed disc and was advised by his doctor to consider surgery. However, the actor decided to try something less invasive after much contemplation.
He then consulted a specialist “from the Far East” for “pin therapy”.
The actor was bracing for the man to stick needles on his neck for the procedure... but he was in for a rude shock.
“The thought of him sticking needles in my neck was scary. But I need not have worried. He didn’t want to put needles in my neck, instead he wanted to stick them in my private parts to fix my neck!
"As you can imagine it was an extremely hurtful prospect. I was shaken to the core of my being (not to mention, below it),” Shah Rukh wrote in the column for DNA, adding that the procedure was “the most humiliating and painful experience of my life”.
So, did the acupuncture at least help with his issue?
“The only thing that had changed was that now the pain was between (my) legs and not in (my) neck,” he wrote.
Shah Rukh, who turned 57 on Nov 2, is set for a comeback in January when his movie Pathan: Siddharth Anand hits cinemas. His last movie was Zero in 2018.
