Get a taste of Latin America at the 20th edition of the Latin American Film Festival (LAFF) at Golden Screen Cinemas (GSC) at 1Utama in Selangor (Nov 17 to 20) and GSC Gurney Plaza in Penang (Nov 24 to 27).

The seven featured films, ranging from thrillers to comedies and family-friendly animation, aim to display the rich cultural heritage of Latin America and Caribbean countries, and introduce the local audience to a creative showcase from the filmmaking industry.

Among the titles are Argentina’s The Weasels’ Tale, a dark comedy about four motion-picture veterans who become the target of a pair of opportunistic property developers. Directed by Oscar-winning director Juan Jose Campanella, this entertaining caper shows just how far this group will go to preserve the world they have built.

Screenings to all LAFF movies are free.

For those planning to catch the festival at 1Utama, collect your tickets one hour before the movie screening at GSC 1Utama.

For movie-goers at GSC Gurney Plaza, tickets for LAFF can be booked at www.gsc.com.my or the ekiosk at the cinema, from Nov 21.

The LAFF is organised by the embassies of Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Cuba, Mexico and Peru, in Malaysia.

“We are delighted to be able to show the Malaysian public the quality of our films as well as the nuances of our rich culture. The selection of this year’s movies is proof that talent, creativity and passion are the best ingredients for great movies,” says Manuel Balaguer Salas, ambassador of Argentina to Malaysia, and dean of the Latin American and Caribbean Embassies in Malaysia.
