Hong Kong actor Kenneth Ma has been in a relationship with TVB actress Roxanne Tong since 2020.

Over the past two years, the couple have been bombarded with the same question: "When are you both getting married?"

This question has been left unanswered for the longest time. Which is why when the acclaimed Big White Duel actor reportedly confirmed that he and Tong will get married in 2023, netizens were ecstatic.

During a TVB event on Nov 14 however, Ma clarified that the marriage was "just a thought" and nothing was confirmed.

"I don't know why it (reports) was written like an official marriage announcement when it was just a thought," he explained.

The actor added that he personally wouldn't announce his marriage at any large-scale event as it was "very strange to do so".

"If I ever proposed, I'd prefer it to be in private as it's more romantic," he said.

When asked by Chinapress if he was a romantic person, the 48-year-old responded that he wasn't, but he was willing to do a decent marriage proposal for his girlfriend.

Ma's decision to clarify the news led some netizens to say that the actor's actions might have hurt Tong.

Meanwhile, some advised Ma to stop delaying the marriage as "pretty soup (a nickname given to Tong by netizens)" will become "old soup".

The couple announced their relationship in June 2020 after he was photographed driving to her house. The actor previously dated former TVB actress Jacqueline Wong before they broke up in 2019.
