On Nov 10, Hong Kong’s entertainment scene dimmed after former TVB actor Yu Chi Ming passed away. He was 78 years old.

The news was confirmed by his son, Tianyou, on Yu's Instagram account.

The post was accompanied by a black and white photo of the veteran actor in a wheelchair with a caption that read: “Have a safe journey ahead, dad.”

Earlier this year, the Gods Of Honour (2001) actor suffered a stroke that left one side of his body temporarily paralysed.

On Nov 3, Tianyou revealed that his father had to be hospitalised due to excessive phlegm in his throat. Despite well-wishers praying for Yu's speedy recovery, the actor sadly passed away a week later.

Hong Kong actress Cecilia Choi – who played as Yu’s granddaughter in the TV series 940920 which was released this year – paid tribute to the late actor on Instagram. “Rest in peace, grandpa. I’m so grateful to you,” she commented.

Yu’s acting career with TVB spanned over 40 years. A highly respected veteran, the actor is best known for his roles in Journey To The West 2 (1998), War And Beauty (2004) and many more.

His funeral will take place on Nov 27.
