Celebrities flock to social media to congratulate Anwar: ‘Inspiring journey of tenacity’

Yesterday (Nov 24), the entire nation came together as one to celebrate Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim's appointment as the 10th Prime Minister of Malaysia.

Messages of congratulations from local celebrities began pouring in following the historic event.

Malaysian artiste Namewee cheered for Anwar on Facebook, saying that he can now sleep well knowing the country is headed for a brighter future.

"Congratulations to the 10th Prime Minister of Malaysia – Anwar Ibrahim! The Prime Minister chosen by the people!" he wrote.

Actress-singer Diana Danielle revealed that she was pleased to hear the news, and that Anwar's patience was inspiring."Inspiring journey of tenacity and endurance of DSAI's vision and consistent action that transpires up to this historical moment. A beautiful patience," she said in an Instagram post.

Diana's husband, Farid Kamil, will be playing as Anwar in the upcoming biopic, Jalan Masih Panjang.

Actor Fezrul Khan also commended Anwar for his patience. He hopes that Anwar's leadership will bring about positive changes in Malaysia's film industry.

Meanwhile, actress Wayne Chua shed tears of joy in an Instagram Story after hearing news of Anwar's appointment.

"Definitely a new chapter for Malaysia. Congratulations to all Malaysians," she said.

The Ghost Bride star also tuned in to the swearing-in, claiming it was a "surreal" experience.

On Facebook, local singer Kit Teo posted a photo of the Pakatan Harapan (PH) flag in front of his house with the caption: "On polling day, I put this flag in front of my house. My family told me not to play around as this was a sensitive issue.

"I told them it is OK because we need hope. Let's display this flag even if we lose! Chinese New Year is coming anyway and red is beautiful. The red (referring to the PH flag) looks even more beautiful now."

Actor Steve Yap also said he felt blessed now that Malaysia is under Anwar's leadership.

"We fought so hard for a better Malaysia. Long live the King," the 50-year-old star wrote.

Other celebrities who have shown support for Anwar as Prime Minister include Syazwan Zulkifli, Angelica Lee, Nadia Brian and Daiyan Trisha.
