Anwar congratulates Michelle Yeoh on historic Golden Globe win

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim congratulated Tan Sri Michelle Yeoh on her recent Golden Globe win.

In a Facebook post today (Jan 13), the prime minister said Yeoh's victory has made the country and Malaysians, especially movie fans, proud.

"I hope Tan Sri Michelle's achievement will be an inspiration to local artistes to continue their journey and produce more creative work.

"I will watch her movie Everything Everywhere All At Once in the near future," Anwar said.

Yeoh, 60, made history when she became the first Malaysian to win a Golden Globe for portraying a frustrated laundromat owner in the indie flick Everything Everywhere All At Once.

Yeoh has received a flurry of congratulatory messages from fans as well as Malaysian leaders – including the King and Queen – after winning the award.

"Thkq thkq to the outpouring of love and congratulations from family, friends around the world... my King and Queen and PM and leaders of Malaysia," the Ipoh-born actress wrote on Instagram on Jan 12.
