Many celebrities from all around the world, including Malaysia, have made use of the long weekend to usher in the Year of the Rabbit by visiting family and friends.

Malaysian model-actress Amber Chia recently shared a video of herself spending Chinese New Year with her family.

In an Instagram video posted on Sunday (Jan 22), the 41-year-old can be seen dancing happily with her family members. She also posted a series of photos with her parents, Hun Poy Chia and Rose Chua, and her 11-year-old son, Ashton Wong.

In her post, Chia wrote: “Give out red envelopes on the first day of the Lunar New Year! Wishing everyone good health and great luck in the Year of the Rabbit. May all your wishes come true!”

Meanwhile, local artiste Elizabeth Tan spent CNY with her husband, Dr Ding Siew Jim, and friends.

In a video posted via Instagram Story last night (Jan 24), the 29-year-old can be seen enjoying a plate of yee sang with a group of friends and watching a lion dance performance.

She also mentioned that she wanted to cook Abalone mushroom with broccoli for her husband this CNY.

While most stars are taking the opportunity to spend time with loved ones, Hong Kong action star Jackie Chan is ushering in the festive season by making a generous act.

On Sunday (Jan 22), the 68-year-old announced on social media that he will be giving away red packets to friends and fans.

“Happy Chinese New Year! May the year of the rabbit bring good luck, good health, and lots of new opportunities to all my friends and fans around the world!

“I’m giving away lucky ‘Hong Bao’ (red packets) again! There’s going to be a lucky draw this year, check out my official website for more details! (www.jackiechan.com),” he wrote.

The same day also saw Hong Kong celebrity couple Grace Chan and Kevin Cheng introducing their third son, Carlos, who was born on Jan 11.

“What a blessing it is to have him in our lives and, in case you are wondering, both boys have been extremely welcoming of their baby brother and helping out to take care of him too.

“Happy to share that both mummy and baby were safe and healthy from the delivery, and everyone’s enjoying the Chinese New Year festivities at home,” Chan said, adding that she was excited to share more updates about her latest bundle of joy.

Taiwanese-Australian model-actress Hannah Quinlivan also posted a photo of her family of five on social media.

“Wishing everyone a new year. May you be safe, happy and fulfil your ambitions in the Year of the Rabbit. Good luck to you,” she wrote.

The 29-year-old welcomed a daughter, Jacinda, in May 2022. She and husband, Mandopop star Jay Chou, share two other children – Hathaway, seven, and Romeo, five.

While most stars are celebrating the Chinese New Year in their hometown, a few have travelled overseas to welcome the Year of the Rabbit.

One such person is Taiwanese actress Joe Chen who celebrated the festive season with her husband, Malaysian artist and entrepreneur Alan Chen, and in-laws in Johor.

In a video posted on Instagram, the 43-year-old star said this was her first time spending the lunar new year in Malaysia.

“I think the atmosphere of the Chinese New Year season in Malaysia is strong. The colour red is everywhere; the climate is warm; and the people are also really warm. Thank you so much for welcoming me, Malaysia,” she said.

Chen also expressed happiness over the ang pows she received from her in-laws.

“This year marks the first time I’ve received red packets from my in-laws,” she wrote in an Instagram Story.

Meanwhile, Grammy-winning American artiste John Legend also celebrated Chinese New Year with his family.

On Friday (Jan 20), the All Of Me hitmaker uploaded a photo of himself with his two children – Luna, six and Miles, four – at a Lunar New Year party at his kids’ school.

All of them were decked in festive attire. Legend was dressed in a striking red button-up and slacks. His daughter, Luna, wore a vibrant red cheongsam whereas his son, Miles, wore a blue changshan.

“Current Friday night vibe = Elementary school Lunar New Year party,” Legend, 44, captioned his post.

Legend and his wife Chrissy Teigen recently welcomed a daughter, Esti Maxine, on Jan 13.
