Local actor Danny X-Factor, says he's not ashamed of being an e-hailing driver and has clapped back at those who shamed him for it.
In a recent interview with Harian Metro, Danny – whose real name is Mohd Kardanie Anwa – reveals that he has been asked many times why he traded his acting job for e-hailing.
"They asked questions like, 'Aren't you acting anymore?' or 'Do you not get offers anymore?'. Those questions irk me because what's wrong with being a Grab driver?
"It's not like I'm making money through unlawful means. And to those who keep hurling insults (about being a Grab driver), are you the one giving me money to pay my monthly bills?" the 42-year-old laments.
Danny has been working as a Grab driver since 2017 and reportedly makes RM400 to RM500 per day.
According to him, this profession has been a life-saver especially during the movement control order period where many lost their livelihood, including his flight attendant wife, Zaidatul Norfazlin Zakaria.
"My wife was unable to travel for work, so there wasn't any income. That's when working as an e-hailing driver helped me. The income is quite decent too," the actor explains.
At present, Danny is happy with his e-hailing career and working behind the cameras, but he's not singling out acting offers.
"I'm comfortable with working behind the scenes and seeing new stars step forward. Maybe it's because I haven't appeared on television for quite some time.
"But that doesn't mean I won't accept any (acting) offers. Insya-Allah if there's a role suitable for me, and if I have free time, I'll do it," he concludes.
Danny made his acting debut in 1999 with the film, Drop Dead Rock, and achieved success with his starring role in the 2008 flick, Budak Kelantan.
In recent years, he has taken on minor roles in local shows like Nasi Kerabu Untuk Che Abe (2020), Mr Drift (2021) and Republik Gombak (2022).
