Hong Kong actor Philip Keung recently finished filming for the TVB movie, Lock War, in Penang and has since stayed there with his wife Anna Kam to celebrate Chinese New Year.

On Monday (Jan 30), the 56-year-old actor uploaded pictures on social media of him with his wife at the Jade Emperor's birthday celebration which took place at Chew Jetty in George Town.

According to reports, thousands of people gathered for prayers and offerings. Apart from lion and dragon dances, there was also a 24-season drum performance.

Keung shared his excitement of being able to experience such a grand celebration in his Instagram post.

"I'm so happy. The energy here is so festive. I want to spend every CNY in Penang in the future," he wrote, adding that he got acquainted with many people and that the atmosphere gave him the "original taste of CNY".

The Shock Wave star has long expressed his love for Penang, which he calls as his "second home".

In a previous interview with China Press, Keung revealed that he was interested in making a movie about the state because of its cultural heritage.

"I have discussed my plans with the Penang government before but it's still in progress and hasn't been confirmed yet," he told the publication.

In 2017, the actor bought a property in Penang as a gift for his wife. However, they were unable to return in recent years due to the pandemic.
