Canadian-American actress Pamela Anderson recently detailed a dark memory from her childhood in her brand new memoir, Love, Pamela.
In her tell-all book, Pamela revealed that her father, Barry Anderson, once drowned her kittens in the ocean after she disobeyed him.
According to the 55-year-old, she grew up being a rebellious child and often faced harsh punishments for it.
One night when her parents were out on a date, Pamela took the kittens her cat, Momsy, had just given birth to and brought them into the house – something her father was heavily against.
When her father caught her "red-handed" after making an "unexpected" return to the house, the actress shared that he got so angry he threw down his jacket, grabbed a paper bag, stuffed all of the kittens inside and went to the beach with them.
"I followed in a trance – I could hear the kittens' muffled cries. Everything blurred, like it was happening in slow motion.
"My dad walked into the ocean and held the bag underwater. He drowned them in front of me. I felt like I died that night too," the former Playboy model wrote, adding that this incident prompted her to seek refuge at a neighbour's house.
Outside her acting gig, Pamela is known for being an avid animal rights advocate. According to reports, the actress has collaborated with the People For The Ethical Treatment Of Animals (PETA) for multiple campaigns.
In 2006, while hosting the Juno Awards in Canada, the Baywatch star also voiced her opposition against the annual seal hunt.
Pamela recently released her documentary – Pamela, A Love Story – in which she details personal aspects of her life as an actress, activist and mother. The show is now streaming on Netflix.
