Hong Kong superstar Andy Lau's daughter isn't too fond of her dad leaving home so often for his acting projects.
During a press conference for his latest film, The Wandering Earth 2, Lau told Hong Kong media that he relies heavily on virtual platforms to communicate with his family as he often travels for work.
According to the Heavenly King, his 10-year-old daughter Hanna used to throw a hissy fit over his method of communication.
"Being an actor requires making (tough) choices. When my daughter was younger and had video calls (FaceTime) with me, she would toss away the phone saying she wanted to see me in real life.
"But how can it be possible? There is still a long time more (to shoot the movie) before we can meet up, so I had no choice but to put up with it," the 61-year-old said.
Lau admitted that although he is a very busy man, he occasionally takes time off his busy schedule to dote on his daughter. In fact, the actor considers himself to be a "yes-dad".
"Whatever my daughter wants, she gets. I am actually spoiling her to be honest ... both my wife and I are. My daughter is not afraid of anyone at home ..." he shared.
Last December, the Infernal Affairs star was praised by netizens for making time to attend and support his daughter's school play.
He also said that he used to accompany his daughter for online classes and helped her with homework.
"To be frank, the hardest subject for me to teach was English. Sometimes I need her to teach me instead," he joked.
Lau tied the knot with his Malaysian partner, former model Carol Chu, in 2008 and welcomed a daughter in 2012. The actor recently spent Chinese New Year with his family in Malaysia.
