Malaysian singer DJ Dave celebrates 75th birthday

Datuk DJ Dave celebrated his 75th birthday on Valentine's Day.

The popular 1970s and 80s singer said it is important to stay active and lead a healthy lifestyle at his age.

When asked what was his secret to his youthful looks, DJ Dave said he watches what he eats and does constant workouts.

"I have never done botox or stuff like that. I exercise frequently at home. I also make sure I have a balanced diet," he told mStar, The Star's Malay-language portal.

"I also consume vitamins C and D. I eat more fruits and vegetables. Yes, I prefer more vegetables and less meat. I also consume more fish as that is important," the singer – whose real name is Irwan Shah Abdullah – said.

DJ Dave celebrated his birthday with a group of orphans at Rumah Titian Kasih in Kuala Lumpur on Feb 14. It has become a tradition for the affable singer to celebrate his birthday with the less fortunate every year.

"To look at their smiles and to see them happy, makes me happy in return," DJ Dave said, adding that he has been doing this for the past 51 years and will continue to do so in years to come..

"I have been brought up to make others happy and to appreciate everyone regardless of race or social standing," he said.
