Ricco Ng is one of the up-and-coming stars of TVB who is winning fans with his looks and talent.
The 24-year-old recently won the Most Improved Actor trophy at the TVB Anniversary Awards ceremony, proving that the broadcaster is keen on giving more opportunities to Ng, who was linked to an indecent video controversy in 2021.
Ng's breakout performance in Communion (2022) and Come Home Love: Lo And Behold (2017-present) has also caught the attention of senior TVB actor Kent Cheng, best known for his portrayal as Fei Mao in the 1985 film, Why Me?.
Cheng told Hong Kong media that Ng did a convincing job portraying an IT professional in Communion.
"His acting was charismatic and not over the top and, he had a good grasp in his dialogue and emotional delivery," Cheng said.
"I am very happy that he received recognition at the TVB Anniversary Awards – it shows that I have been paying attention to the right actors! He should continue to work hard and steadily improve. I feel that he has potential to become a star,” the 71-year-old actor said.
Indeed a high praise from an award-winning star to a young actor such as Ng.
When Ng heard of Cheng's compliment, he was astounded.
"He is a legendary senior and I can’t believe he has been paying attention to my dramas. I’m really happy that he has confidence in me but I couldn’t have done it without the scriptwriters, directors, and producers," said Ng, who joined TVB when he was 17 years old.
