Taiwanese actor Dong Zhicheng recently appeared in an episode of TVBS' variety programme, Chop Chop Show, where he opened up about a past relationship with a bar hostess he met when he was younger.

According to the 57-year-old, he often visited expensive bars with his friends when he was younger and would invite hostesses to drink with them. Dong revealed that he would splurge a massive NT$150,000 (RM21,925) a night.

He then struck up a relationship with a hostess and supported her for years, hoping that she would leave her job. However, the woman became possessive and would constantly latch onto him.

"One day, she moved into my home unannounced and that's when my nightmare began," Dong explained.

The actor shared that since his ex had many connections in the bar industry, she would ring them up whenever he went out drinking with friends.

"Once she got intel on my whereabouts, she would rush to the place I'm at and scream, 'Dong Zhicheng, you'd better return home now!' It made me so angry," he lamented, adding that he had to put up with her for eight years.

When asked about why he never attempted to break up with her during their eight years together, Dong shared that he did try to break things off multiple times.

However, she would always try to make him feel bad with excuses like becoming depressed and having panic attacks.

Unable to bear the relationship any longer, the I Am Beautiful star decided to surrender his house and move out.

“I told her she could continue living in my house and go find herself a new boyfriend because truthfully speaking, I just cannot see a future for us," he explained, reiterating that his decision has nothing to do with her background as a hostess but his feelings for her which have dissolved.

Soon after, Dong revealed that his ex got herself a new boyfriend who then moved into his former house.

"I even paid their rent for a year," he exclaimed.

During the programme, the actor also addressed his struggle with alcohol and how it ruined his 21-year marriage with his ex-wife, Teresa Luo, whom he married in 1999.

Dong said that when he went to China in 2018 to develop his showbiz career, he started drinking again, something he hadn't done in a long time.

The Forget You, Remember Love star explained that his alcohol addiction was so bad to the extent his then-wife thought he was using his job in China as an excuse to drink.

"I was there (in China) for three years. After I returned, my marriage was finished," he shared, adding that the divorce left him shattered.

He also expressed regret over his actions which cost him his marriage. In regards to his ex-wife's decision to divorce him, Dong responded: "You (referring to himself) are responsible for the bad things that happen to you.

"I know that no amount of apologies can make (my ex-wife) change her mind. All I hope is that she stays healthy and takes good care of our son."

Dong and Luo parted ways in 2020. According to Sin Chew, the former couple share a 14-year-old son.

Although Luo was given custody of the child, Dong is responsible for his son's academic expenses. The actor is now working hard to generate income for his son.
