Hong Kong actress Elaine Ng has opened up about her past affair with action star Jackie Chan, Oriental Daily reported.
In a recent livestream on her social media account, a netizen asked Ng if she had any regrets falling in love with Chan to which she responded no.
"I don't regret it. In life, you should never regret anything because life is a learning process. Every difficulty you encounter gives you an opportunity to learn something new.
"During these (difficult) times, we must be strong and try our best to remain optimistic.
"It's good to face challenges because the more you experience (these hardships), the more you will understand," the 50-year-old said, adding that she was grateful she was younger when she got caught in the affair.
"When you're young, you'll have the strength and time to adjust to these kinds of challenging situations but once you're older, you won't have the time nor energy to deal with such things," she said.
In her broadcast, the former Miss Asia also talked about her relationship with daughter Etta – who was born out of wedlock after the actress' affair with Chan in 1999.
Ng admitted that she had been too harsh in raising her daughter.
She revealed that in the past, she would often nag Etta to not do many things, and this had the "opposite effect intended" on their relationship.
"From this, I learned that I have to be more gentle in the future," she said.
Despite not being on good terms with one another, the Legal Entanglement star shared that she will continue supporting her daughter and that "the door at home is always open" for her.
Ng has not had the best relationship with Etta. Over the past years, the two have feuded publicly on several occasions.
In 2018, Etta accused her parents of being homophobic for not acknowledging her marriage to Canadian woman Andi Autumn. Last July, Ng publicly voiced her dislike towards Etta's wife and slammed her for depending on her daughter for money.
In January this year, Etta said that she refused to reunite with her mother for the Lunar New Year and would rather "be homeless and eat stale bread".
