Puteri Sarah Liyana Megat Kamaruddin is asking Syamsul Yusof to submit evidence after the latter accused her of having an affair with an ex-boyfriend, who is now a married man.

She added that she doesn’t care for Syamsul’s accusation and is ready to take legal action if the Mat Kilau director is unable to prove what he accused her of.

As a matter of fact, the 37-year-old actress said she has already referred the matter to her lawyer and is waiting to see what evidence Syamsul, 38, would bring forth as proof of the affair.

“We cannot simply say something; nowadays everything we say must be accompanied by proof,” Puteri Sarah said when she was met by media on Friday (March 24), including mStar – The Star’s Malay-language portal.

“God willing, further action will be taken if the other party fails to present proof. At this stage, I really don’t care ... let him say whatever he wants.

“If you (Syamsul) is already saying I am this and that, why don't you just let me go," she added.

Puteri Sarah said this after she attended the conciliatory committee (jawatankuasa pendamai or JKP) meeting at the Jabatan Agama Islam Wilayah Persekutuan (Jawi) as ordered by Syariah Court on March 7.

The committee was the result of Syamsul not wanting to divorce his first wife, whereas Puteri Sarah not intending to be in the marriage any longer.

The mother of two also said she didn’t meet Syamsul during the JKP meeting, and that she had no desire to be in the same space as him.

She added that there is no more room for discussions at this point of time, and it’s her final decision to get a divorce from Syamsul.

The court fixed April 10 for the committee to present its findings.

Regarding her mother-in-law, Datin Patimah Ismail, backing her wish for a divorce, Puteri Sarah said: “His mother knows what happened. After I left our home, I stayed with his mum and dad. I didn’t stay on my own. So, his parents know what happened.”

On Monday (March 27), Puteri Sarah shared on Instagram a photo of her father and father-in-law holding hands with the caption: "Two people I respect greatly. The two men who care for me, and love me.

"Whatever happens in the future, hope their relationship remains until the end of time.

"Thank you for respecting my decision."

Megat Kamaruddin and Datuk Yusof Haslam, as well as their respective wives, came together to celebrate the birthday of Puteri Sarah's daughter.

Syamsul and Puteri Sarah got married on March 8, 2014 and have two children together, six and four.

On Jan 6, Syamsul shared that he married Ira Kazar in Thailand and that she is his second wife while Puteri Sarah is legally still his first wife.

Puteri Sarah filed for divorce on Jan 16 with the permission of the court under Section 47 of the Islamic Family Law (Federal Territories) Act 1984, on the grounds that there was no more understanding and with prolonged shiqaq (disagreement) between them, they could no longer live together as husband and wife according to the Syariah law.

Syamsul filed a nusyuz (disobedient) application at the Gombak Timur Syariah Lower Court on March 21 claiming that Puteri Sarah had often contacted her ex-boyfriend who is a married man, thus disrupting his marriage.

Meanwhile, Puteri Sarah filed a full custody (hadanah) claim for her two children at the Syariah High Court in Kuala Lumpur on March 22.
