After using her sister’s car for so long, actress Wafariena is grateful that she now finally has her own car.
The 28-year-old is especially happy about the new car she bought as she has been conned twice previously when she tried to purchase a car.
Wafariena – whose full name is Wafariena Roslan – said that she fell victim to the scam as she was influenced by the car ads, which got many positive reviews.
“This happened two years ago. While chatting (with the agent), everything seemed to be in order. After I gave him RM2,500 for the handling of the documents, the agent disappeared.
“This was the case too the second time around. I lost another RM2,500, but they asked for RM10,000 at first,” she said to mStar – The Star’s Malay-language news portal.
“When I tried to contact the agent later, I was blocked. I had to accept my fate.”
For her new car – a Honda Civic RS that costs RM170,000 – the actress said she had to wait for three months.
She added she was glad she got it in the month of Ramadan as this would allow her to drive back to her hometown in Ipoh to break fast with her family.
“The car loan was finalised midnight of the new year. I am taking that as a sign of a new start for me.”
Not stopping at one car, Wafariena hopes to buy another car for her family’s convenience and comfort.
But at the same time, her past experience has taught her to be careful and not to be easily influenced by what she reads on social media.
“Let my mistake be a lesson to people out there not to be conned by the fake agents’ tactics,” she said.
