Taylor Swift has a blank space where she once wrote Joe Alwyn’s name. The Lavender Haze singer and her boyfriend of six years have reportedly split.
ET was the first to report the breakup, which they were told “was not dramatic.” Rather, “the relationship had just run its course. It’s why (Alwyn) hasn’t been spotted at any shows,” the source added.
The 33-year-old singer, currently on the road for her record-smashing Eras Tour, has kept quiet about her romance with Alwyn, 32, whom she met at the Met Gala in 2016.
“We decided together we wanted our relationship to be private,” the Anti-Hero singer said in a 2020 conversation with Paul McCartney for Rolling Stone. “I was happy. But I wasn’t happy in the way I was trained to be happy. It was happiness without anyone else’s input. We were just happy.”
For his part, the Conversations With Friends actor told British Vogue, “I’m aware people want to know about that side of things. I think we have been successfully very private and that has now sunk in for people . . . but I really prefer to talk about work.”
However, fans got some glimpses of their relationship through the singer’s quarantine projects, Folklore and Evermore, on which Alwyn collaborated.
Although he is credited as “William Bowery,” Alwyn co-wrote several songs for the pair of indie-folk records. Swift eventually confirmed fans’ suspicion that Alwyn and “Bowery” were one and the same in the Folklore: The Long Pond Sessions special for Disney+.
Alwyn is also pseudonymously credited on Sweet Nothing on Swift’s most recent release, Midnights. – New York Daily News/Tribune News Service
