After his break in December where he visited Malaysia with wife Miss Hong Kong finalist Phoebe Sin, actor Ruco Chan has been keeping busy with various jobs, including an appearance in the latest TVB drama The Invisibles.

But the fact that he’s not playing the lead role in that series, started a rumour that Chan was relegated to a smaller role due to a failed salary negotiation with the HK broadcasting company.

During a recent promotional event, Chan addressed the issue with HK media where he denied that he’s upset over his salary negotiation.

“In fact, in the past two years, the market hadn’t been great so I think there aren’t that many people who would think about getting a salary increase. I only hope that everyone will get through the difficult times,” said Chan, as translated by JayneStars.

The 46-year-old added: “In the past two years, I haven’t responded to the reporters. Looking at the dramas released, I am in a lot of them. I need to focus on playing many different roles.”

Other than The Invisibles, it’s reported that he’s set to appear in three upcoming dramas. In these new shows, it's said he will be taking on the lead characters.

Another rumour that was being circulated about Chan, who is dad to four-year-old daughter, was that he does not dare to leave TVB for financial reason.

To this he replied: “Actually, two years ago, when I was discussing (my contract) with (TVB), I gave up an offer worth eight figures to stay with TVB. I did wonder if I was being impulsive, (but) I stayed with the company.

“To be honest, the most important thing is the relationships I’ve formed here, and the promises that were made.”
