Tan Sri Michelle Yeoh continues to be the toast of Hong Kong while she's in the city for some work commitments.
Last night (April 14), the Ipoh-born actress was the guest of honour at a private dinner to celebrate her Best Actress Oscar win.
Popular Hong Kong actress Sandra Ng posted several photos and videos on her Instagram Stories documenting the star-studded dinner.
"Long time no see," Ng captioned a video of her congratulating Yeoh on her Oscar win.
In another video, the 57-year-old actress – best known for Cantonese comedies such as Golden Chicken and All's Well, Ends Well – was seen posing with Yeoh and actor John Shum, with all three holding the Oscar statuette. Then Ng said: "Can you just let me hold on to it (by myself) ... It is heavy!"
Yeoh nudged Ng to make an acceptance speech. "I would like to thank Miss Yeoh Choo Keng," Ng said laughing.
Then she turned to Yeoh and asked her: "Can I take it home for a night ... for fengshui purpose."
At the private dinner, Yeoh made a speech where she thanked those in Hong Kong who helped her get her start in showbiz.
"That's why I want to thank you, each and every one of you, who helped me to be who I am today," the 60-year-old Malaysian star said in a mix of Cantonese and English.
Spotted at the dinner were actors Chow Yun Fat and Donnie Yen, directors Ann Hui and Peter Chan (who's married to Ng), singer Sally Yeh and Yeoh's partner Jean Todt.
Last year, Ng made news when she became the first Hong Kong actress to be invited to join the committee of voting members of The Academy Of Motion Picture Arts And Sciences.
"It feels surreal receiving the invitation from The Academy. I feel honoured to be recognised by such a prestigious film institution and I'm super excited about this new opportunity," Ng wrote on Instagram in June 2022.
