Yesterday (April 24) was a big day for Hong Kong actor Carlos Chan who finally got hitched with his beau singer Shiga Lin.

The ceremony – which reportedly cost HK$3mil (RM1.68mil) – took place at the luxurious five-star Rosewood Hotel in Tsim Sha Tsui, Hong Kong.

According to Sin Chew, the couple adhered to traditional Chinese customs in the morning followed by another modern-style ceremony at noon.

Present to witness the union were the newlyweds’ relatives and friends, including actor Bob Lam – who served as the emcee for the noon reception – Malaysian singer Gin Lee, Hong Kong actress Mani Fok and TVB star Tony Hung.

Lin looked glamorous in her low-cut wedding gown and diamond jewellery. According to China Press, the diamonds donned by the singer amounted up to nearly HK$10mil (RM5.65mil). Her 36-year-old husband looked equally elegant in his black tuxedo and slacks.

The 30-year-old bride was accompanied by her bridesmaids Yoyo Chen, Inez Leong and Christy Lai whereas Chan was accompanied by groomsmen Chu Pak Hong and Kaki Sham.

When asked about the rumour that the bridesmaids and groomsmen each received a red packet containing HK$1.31mil (RM741,421), Chan clarified that it was only HK$13,140 (RM7,436).

The TVB star also admitted that he felt nervous declaring his love for Lin in front of so many people as he was used to showing his affection in private.

When asked about their plans after marriage, Lin shared that her husband had suggested a honeymoon in Europe, where they could watch a soccer match together.

As for whether or not they will have kids, Chan said that he was interested but will ultimately let fate decide.

“I want to have as many kids as possible. If I can, I want a whole soccer team,” he joked.

Chan announced his engagement to Lin last June.

The couple reportedly met while filming the 2019 travel show, 12 Summers, and had been spotted by the media going on dates shortly after.
