Award-winning Taiwanese host Hsueh Chi-kang has admitted to cheating on his wife Ariane Wang, Sin Chew reported.

Earlier on Friday (April 28), Hsueh issued a statement apologising to his wife and two daughters for breaking their trust.

"As a husband, father and also son, I am pained by my inappropriate mistakes and actions (I made) which hurt my wife, daughters and parents.

"I have deeply hurt their hearts and broken their trust in me," the 47-year-old said, adding that he had also set a bad example to his co-workers, friends and fans.

Hsueh's statement comes a day after paparazzo Ge Siqi, released a photo of the Dangerous Mind star kissing another woman.

The picture quickly circulated all over Taiwanese social media, with many netizens lambasting the television presenter for being unfaithful to his wife of nine years.

According to Ge, Hsueh met his mistress while his wife was abroad with their kids last May, and the two have been dating since.

The paparazzo further alleged that, despite being a married man, Hsueh made no attempts to hide any public displays of affection with his mistress and criticised him for failing to set an example as a host for kids' programmes.

For the record, Hsueh is best known for hosting the children's programme Follow Me Go! – which earned him two Golden Bell awards.

The actor co-hosts the show with his wife, and the duo was often hailed by the public as a "model couple".

In regards to the cheating scandal plaguing their marriage, Hsueh's wife said: "I'm really sad and heartbroken. I hope the outside world will give me some space to think."
