Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim attended the premiere of director Viva Westi's upcoming movie, Anwar: The Untold Story, at Dadi Cinema in Pavilion KL on Monday (May 8).

He arrived at Pavilion KL at around 8.10pm and was accompanied by his wife, Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail.

Hundreds of Malaysians gathered outside the mall to greet the leader, who was appointed the 10th Prime Minister of Malaysia last November.

The crowd outside Dadi Cinema cheered and shouted "Reformasi" as Anwar made his way to the cinema hall – where he would watch the movie with over 250 VIPs from the entertainment industry, political figures and also celebrities.

Among those present at the event were Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail, Communication And Digital Minister Fahmi Fadzil, Transport Minister Anthony Loke, and Youth And Sports Deputy Minister Adam Adli.

Anwar: The Untold Story chronicles the journey of Anwar in battling corruption in the nation.

It documents the struggles of the 75-year-old politician from the time of his appointment as Finance Minister in 1991 to his dismissal in 1998 that brought about the Reformasi movement.

The movie stars Farid Kamil as Anwar, Acha Septriasa as Wan Azizah and Hasnul Rahmat as Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad.

The biopic was shot in Malaysia and Indonesia at a cost of RM10mil.

Anwar: The Untold Story will be released at cinemas nationwide on May 18.
