British band Coldplay (pic) will be staging its first ever concert in Malaysia on Nov 22.

The Music Of The Spheres World Tour will be held at the National Stadium Bukit Jalil in Kuala Lumpur.

Apart from KL, Coldplay is expected to play in Tokyo, Kaohsiung, Jakarta and Perth in November. The band also shared these new dates on their Twitter account this morning.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim retweeted the news with a message to the band: "Welcome to Kuala Lumpur!"

The Music Of The Spheres World Tour is in support of the band's ninth album of the same name, which featured the hit single My Universe, a collaboration with South Korean boy band BTS.

Coldplay kickstarted the tour in March 2022 in Costa Rica. The tour, which has sold over four million tickets, was also filmed for theatrical release.

The band – comprising Chris Martin, Jonny Buckland, Guy Berryman, Will Champion and Phil Harvey – promised that it would ensure that the current tour would have a minimal impact on the environment compared to A Head Full of Dreams Tour (2015-2017).

"We pledge to make our Music Of The Spheres Tour as sustainable and low-carbon as possible, guided by three key principles:

"Reduce: Reduce our consumption, recycle extensively and cut our CO2 emissions by 50%.

"Reinvent: Support new green technologies and develop new sustainable, super-low carbon touring methods.

"Restore: Make the tour as environmentally beneficial as possible by funding a portfolio of nature- and technology-based projects and by drawing down significantly more CO2 than the tour produces," the band said on its official website.

Tickets for Coldplay's November show in KL will go on sale on May 17 from 10am at www.livenation.my.
