Hong Kong action star Jackie Chan said that he feels out of touch with the younger generation and finds it difficult to communicate with them.
In a recent interview on a CCTV programme hosted by Lu Jian, Chan admitted that he has trouble using communication apps and understanding the slangs youngsters use these days.
“I admit that I (find it a struggle) to talk to young people. I just cannot understand their speech, and their language is so out of touch with mine,” the 69-year-old said.
He added that he does not use or have WeChat, a popular social networking app, as he finds using the phone to be “the biggest waste of time”.
“I would rather spend my time thinking, watching good films, listening to music, learning Mandarin, reading poetry, learning good scripts and practising martial arts,” he said.
Chan’s positive approach to learning and self-improvement received a lot of praise from netizens.
However, several have also criticised the Ride On star for neglecting his 23-year-old daughter, Etta Ng – whom he fathered during his affair with former beauty queen Elaine Ng.
According to reports, Etta was last seen in public last year queuing for a meal at a food bank in Canada. She had eloped with a Canadian influencer Andi Autumn.
Chan and Etta are believed to have a strained relationship, with Etta allegedly once saying that she never wished to see her father.
