It looks like TVB has forgiven actor Mat Yeung who went to prison late last year from a drink-driving offence.

The 41-year-old actor, who has mainly kept under the radar, made his first public appearance on May 11 in Hong Kong to promote his new drama Night Beauties.

Yeung told Hong Kong media that in the past few months, he has been reflecting on his mistakes. He added that he understands that, because he had gone to prison, he will be looked on differently.

"This is a fact. I’m not afraid because it was a necessary punishment. I will try my best to be the best version of myself in the future,” he said, adding that he has quit drinking. However, he will make exceptions when attending banquets.

Yeung was also asked to comment on rumours that some of his scenes in Night Beauties were cut, making him a supporting actor rather than the lead star.

"There is no mention of whether I was the first or second male lead. We just act according to the script,” he said.

Night Beauties, which premieres tonight (May 15) in Hong Kong, is a remake of the hit Taiwanese series Light The Night. Yeung's girlfriend, Malaysian-born actress Lisa Ch'ng also stars in the drama.

Yeung was arrested in August 2020 after crashing his car in Mid-Levels, Hong Kong. He was sentenced to 18 days in prison in November 2021. The actor's appeal was overturn a year later and he started his jail sentence on Dec 22, 2022.
