Malaysia sets new Guinness World Record for largest gathering of people dressed as Spider-Man

In conjunction with the release of new Spider-Man movie – Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse, now showing at cinemas – film distributor Sony Pictures Malaysia and Aeon Mall invited fans to participate in a gathering while wearing the web-slinger costume.

On Saturday (June 3), many turned up at Aeon Mall Bukit Tinggi wearing the Spidey costume.

There were so many Spider-Man that Malaysia has set a new Guinness World Record.

According to a press release by Sony Pictures, the previous record was achieved at a gathering that happened in India on Dec 15, 2021, with 601 Spider-Man.

The attempt to break the old record began at 4pm, with the official Guinness adjudicator Kazuyoshi Kirimura requesting everyone dressed as Spider-Man to remain at the designated area for at least five minutes.

At 4.40pm, the adjudicator confirmed that Malaysia successfully broke the old record.
