Actress Shannen Doherty (pic) shared some devastating news with fans – the breast cancer she has been battling has spread to her brain.
"On January 5th, my scan showed Mets (metastases) in my brain," Doherty, 52, captioned a video of her receiving radiation.
"My fear is obvious. I am extremely claustrophobic and there was a lot going on in my life. But that fear... The turmoil... the timing of it all... This is what cancer can look like," the Beverly Hills, 90210 actress wrote.
Celebrity friends left words of encouragement for the actress after her post.
Director Kevin Smith, who directed Doherty in the 1995 movie Mallrats, said he's rooting for her.
"You have been such a fearless fighter your whole life, so it’s understandable to be a little scared from time to time. But when those moments pass, let that indomitable Doherty spirit take over anew. I love you so much, my Mallrat," he wrote.
Actress Selma Blair, who is diagnosed with multiple sclerosis, wrote: "This is a lot. This is a lot to take on, still again. And I am wishing for all the wise peace you have learned to find you in the terror moments."
Actress Alana Stewart also sent Doherty best wishes: "You are a warrior, beautiful Shannon, and an inspiration to us all. God is with you on this journey, and I pray for a miraculous healing for you once and for all."
Doherty was first diagnosed with breast cancer in 2015. The Charmed actress said she underwent a mastectomy and received chemotherapy and radiation treatment. In 2017, she announced she was in remission.
In 2020, Doherty said the cancer came back, this time in stage four.
