South Korean actor Song Joong-ki is now a father!

On Wednesday (June 14), Song announced on his official fancafe that he and his wife Katy Louise Saunders have welcomed their first child, a baby boy.

His post was accompanied by an adorable photo of his newborn son holding his finger.

"I am currently in Rome, my wife's hometown, and we have welcomed our baby, a healthy son.

"Both the baby and his mother are in good health. I am happily taking care of my family with a grateful heart," he wrote as translated by entertainment news portal Soompi.

In his letter, the 37-year-old shared that his son was the most precious gift to him and his wife as it had been their biggest dream to start a family.

The Vincenzo star also thanked his fans and the many people who have supported him and Saunders.

"I am always grateful to Ki Aile (the name of Song's fans) for giving their sincere, unchanging love. I sincerely wish for there to be great joy in your lives too," he said.

Song's relationship with Saunders first came to light when he came to Singapore with her on Dec 7. His agency confirmed on Dec 26 that he was in a relationship with someone, but did not reveal her identity.

The Reborn Rich star announced his marriage to Saunders on Jan 30. It is understood that the couple met through a mutual friend.

Saunders is of British and Columbian parentage, and is listed as an actress on IMDB.com.

She made her acting debut in Michele Placido’s 2002 film A Scandalous Journey and rose to fame in 2004 with the movie Tre Metri Sopra Il Cielo. Her last film listed on the website is Welcome Home, released in 2018.

Song was previously married to South Korean actress Song Hye-kyo from 2017 to 2019.
