Taylor Swift has joined with one of her famous exes to promote the re-release of Speak Now.
The Grammy winner, 33, brought former beau Taylor Lautner onstage during her Eras Tour Friday (July 7) in Kansas City, Missouri, to promote the release of her music video for I Can See You, Variety reported.
The long-awaited reunion between the former lovers and Valentine’s Day co-stars happened the same day as the early morning re-release of Swift’s 2010 album, Speak Now.
Back To December, one of the breakup tunes featured on the record, is famously about Swift’s well, swift, relationship with the former Twilight star, 31.
Along with Lautner, the video stars Swift herself, as well as Joey King and Presley Cash – the latter two of whom appeared in the 2011 video for Mean, off the original Speak Now. Swift brought all three actors to the stage after premiering the new video.
At the concert, Swift gave props to Lautner, telling the audience, “He was a very positive force in my life when I was making the Speak Now album, and I want to say he did every single stunt that you saw in that music video,” according to the TMZ.
“He and his wife have become some of my closest friends,” she added, referring to Taylor Dome, whom Lautner married in November.
Meanwhile, John Mayer, another ex of Swift’s who is believed to be the inspiration for at least two songs on Speak Now, publicly asked fans to “please be kind” ahead of the re-release.
In a social media post in the wee hours of Saturday morning, Swift she had “been counting down for months” until the premiere of the video, and had her “heart set” on casting Lautner, King and Cash.
“I wrote this video treatment over a year ago and really wanted to play out symbolically how it’s felt for me to have the fans helping me reclaim my music,” she wrote.
Swift was referencing the very public – and very controversial – 2019 purchasing of her music masters by Scooter Braun. In order to own the music included in that deal, Swift has since started releasing Taylor’s Version incarnations of her albums under that agreement. – New York Daily News/Tribune News Service
