Hong Kong superstar Jacky Cheung, known for his vocal prowess and captivating stage presence, has won over netizens with his down-to-earth personality.
In a recent update on Chinese social networking site Xiaohongshu, a fan said they bumped into Cheung while on a flight from Singapore to Hong Kong.
Their post was accompanied by several photos of the singer on the plane along with a caption that read: “Just watched his concert on the 15th and bumped into him on the same flight on the 17th. I was so excited I forgot to ask for an autograph.”
According to the fan, Cheung was very low-key, dressing in a white jacket, black pants and black cap to match. He also carried his own bag and did not bring any bodyguards with him.
The fan added that when Cheung exited the plane, he made sure to stop and thank the flight attendants with a bow.
His little act of kindness gained big reactions from netizens, who praised the 62-year-old for his humility.
“This is how a real superstar should be: low-key, polite and humble,” said one netizen.
“Jacky Cheung is a virtuous musician who’s also artistically talented,” added another.
One netizen also joked: “He carried his own backpack? Some celebrities can’t even open a door on their own.”
This isn’t the first time Cheung displayed humility.
Earlier in April, the singer revealed that he turned down millions to be a coach on a singing reality TV show, saying that he was “not qualified” for the task.
“Anyone who is brave enough to perform on stage is amazing, even if they may not be a professional.
“So I do not have the heart to say ‘this is no good’ or ‘that is no good’. My heart will not be at ease,” he said.
