Hong Kong action star Donnie Yen had a huge surprise after his wife, former beauty queen Cissy Wang, invited his favourite singer to perform at his pre-birthday celebration party.

Yen, who turned 60 on Thursday (July 27), celebrated the event with friends and family at the picturesque Lake Como in Italy.

This special occasion was also marked by the presence of his favourite singer Paul Anka – renowned for hits like Diana, Put Your Head On My Shoulder and Lonely Boy.

Yen's daughter Jasmine, 19, also dedicated a song to her father.

Taking to Chinese social media platform Weibo, the Ip Man star shared several photos from the event and thanked his wife for inviting Anka, 81, saying it was the biggest surprise.

"My wife specially invited Paul Anka and he performed a special rendition of My Way for me. It was truly the biggest surprise!" he wrote.

Yen added that nearly 100 relatives and friends flew in from different places to celebrate this momentous occasion.

He also thanked the team for arranging such a wonderful party for him.

Photos that Yen posted include him and Anka posing onstage, with Yen donning a white suit and Anka in a black suit. Another showed the actor and his wife hugging each other tightly.

Yen and Wang, 42, recently celebrated their 20th wedding anniversary by renewing their vows in a lavish ceremony in Italy.

The couple tied the knot in 2003 and have two children – Jasmine and James, 15.
