Hong Kong action star Jackie Chan may be a millionaire, but that did not stop actress Gillian Chung from giving him thousands in tips.

Recently, Chan, 69, appeared in a livestream called “Jackie Chan’s Crazy Summer Party”, where he entertained viewers with several songs and played games.

The live broadcast, which peaked at 10 million views and 200 million likes, was hosted by actress Xie Nan – the wife of Chan's close friend, actor Wu Jing.

Among the people who tuned in was Chung, 42, who sent him 30 “rockets” in a row as tips.

For context, each “rocket” fetched a price of HK$300 (RM175), meaning she forked out HK$9,000 (RM5,252) to support Chan.

In addition to Chung, fans who watched the livestream also sent the Rush Hour star “gifts” as tips.

While many expressed happiness for Chan, several netizens on Weibo raised eyebrows at the actor having the tipping function switched on.

“Why don’t you switch off the ‘gift’ feature when you are already so rich?” one netizen questioned.

Another also agreed, saying: “I don’t understand why ordinary people send gifts to the rich.”

Meanwhile, some argued that it was possible Chan wasn’t aware of the tipping feature as “no amount would make a difference” since he was already rich.

Earlier in January, Chan was listed by World Of Statistics as the sixth richest actor in the world, with an impressive net worth of US$520mil (RM2.4bil).

He reportedly splurged US$20mil (RM91mil) to buy a private jet, fitted with the latest tech marvels, in April too.
