Insiders are shedding light on the dynamic that “works” for Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s much-discussed private life.
“Harry seems to be embracing this life he has with Meghan and knows it’s a very different one than he had before,” a source told People of the couple, who stepped back from their senior royal duties in early 2020.
Noting that the former Suits star, 42, “does seem to run the household and make the decisions,” the insider said the Sussexes appear to be “really happy together” living the life they’ve chosen in California – outside the direct influence of the crown.
“It’s not that he bends for her,” the source added of the 38-year-old royal-turned-civilian. “It’s just a dynamic that works for them, and maybe one that he needs after everything he’s been through.”
The insider admitted the couple didn’t exactly have a “five-year plan” when they announced they’d be retreating from the royal spotlight, but that they’re perfectly content to lead quieter lives.
The monarchy “wasn’t a world they wanted for their family,” which now includes four-year-old son Prince Archie and two-year-old daughter Princess Lilibet.
The source said the pair are “very united when it comes to family values and how to raise their kids,” adding that their goal is to “have a normal life as much as possible.”
Last year, the couple not only made headlines for their Netflix’s docuseries, Harry & Meghan, which followed their journey from courtship to exiting royal life, but the prince’s tell-all memoir, Spare. The book hit shelves in early 2023 and quickly overtook headlines and think-pieces alike.
Early last month, the couple parted ways with Spotify after producing just one podcast for the audio streamer under a US$20mil (RM91.1mil) exclusive deal. – New York Daily News/Tribune News Service
