Malaysian songbird Shila Amzah has broken her silence on her parents Datuk ND Lala and Fauziah Sarman’s divorce.

In a TikTok live stream with her 25-year-old husband Ubai on Wednesday (Aug 9), Shila, 32, said that her parents’ divorce was for the best as they had been facing prolonged domestic problems.

“Just pray for the best. At the end of the day, whether someone chooses to divorce or marry, it’s all a matter of fate,” she said.

During the live stream, Shila said that it was up to her parents to look for their own happiness now.

The Patah Seribu hitmaker added that although she and her siblings were upset over their parents’ decision to part ways, she won’t force them to stay together as they had already tried their hardest to mend their broken marriage.

“It would be a lie to say we aren’t upset but at the same time, we feel distressed seeing them argue,” she said.

Meanwhile, Ubai urged everyone to pray for his in-laws’ happiness.

“They need the support of their children and people. Support and pray for the best for them,” he said.

According to reports, the relationship status between 1980s singer ND Lala, 62, and Fauziah was put in the spotlight a few months ago after rumours surfaced that their marriage was falling apart.

The speculation heated up in April when Fauziah uploaded a photo of a woman with the caption “homewrecker” on Instagram.

On Wednesday, Fauziah announced on Instagram that ND Lala – whose real name is Amir Amzah Salleh – had pronounced the divorce at Masjid Ar Rahman in Bangsar, Kuala Lumpur on Aug 2.

However, she was only informed about it on Aug 8.

ND Lala and Fauziah were married for 34 years. The pair tied the knot in 1989 and had four children together.
