For superstar Jacky Cheung, the show must go on, no matter what.
The Hong Kong God Of Songs kicked off his six-night Jacky Cheung 60+ Concert Tour in Malaysia on Aug 11 at Axiata Arena, Bukit Jalil in Kuala Lumpur. On the third night of his show yesterday (Aug 13), the 62-year-old singer lost his balance while performing his hit song Just Want To Spend My Life With You and fell on stage.
Like the professional he is, Cheung quickly got back on his feet and continued singing, while giving the sold-out arena an apologetic bow.
According to local Chinese media, the singer had been experiencing discomfort prior to his stage appearance but insisted to go on with the night's show.
The singer spoke briefly about the incident saying that he has suffered from Meniere’s disease since he was young.
According to Mayo Clinic, "Meniere's disease is an inner ear problem that can cause dizzy spells, also called vertigo, and hearing loss".
“It happened before the concert yesterday, but it has never happened during concerts,” Cheung said at his KL show on Sunday. “I felt dizzy just now.”
Cheung added that he had to close his eyes partially so that he won't feel dizzy. “I am not happy if I can’t see you, and you will feel uncomfortable if I keep closing my eyes,” he told the audience.
The Chinese media also reported that his concert on Saturday was delayed by eight minutes after he had a relapse half an hour before the concert.
Videos of Cheung's fall have been circulating online with most of his fans wishing him speedy recovery.
He is set to perform three more shows in KL this weekend.
