Hong Kong actor Philip Keung, who recently won an award for his physique and healthy image, has credited Chow Yun Fat for inspiring him to exercise more.
According to Keung, 56, his fitness journey began after he approached Chow to ask how he could be as fit as the 68-year-old superstar.
He added that after Chow started taking him hiking and running, he gradually fell in love with sports and began exercising regularly – a habit he has lived with for the past 10 years.
“I believe that exercising can change one’s energy, making them happier and more optimistic,” Keung told HK01.
During the interview, the Firestorm star said that exercising has significantly improved his asthma in addition to keeping him fit.
“I’ve had severe asthma ever since I was two years old.
“Ever since I started running, I have not been on any asthma medication for nearly eight years,” he said, adding that he will continue running until he can’t any longer.
Aside from exercising, Keung also keeps himself in shape by maintaining a strict diet.
“Until today, the meals cooked at home are free of oil, salt and sugar.
“Although I treat myself to a bigger meal during days where (I have more work), the food at home is mostly light,” he said.
Chow, a well-known jogging enthusiast, once said that going for his daily runs had improved his physique in addition to teaching him perseverance.
Although the actor was recently advised by doctors to stop running for two months following a fall, Chow remained steadfast to his jogging routine.
