Recent incident involving a little girl being struck by a reversing car in front of a pet shop apparently also involved the wife and child of radio presenter Issey Fazlisham.

Issey, who shared videos of the incident on his Instagram, wrote that his wife, Noor Aimi Jamel, along with their two children, Cataleya Humairah and Faaeq Fathiah, and a nephew, had stopped by the shop after school on that fateful day.

He wasn't there with them.

When the car had reversed, his son was near the shop's entrance and the little boy only narrowly escaped being hit.

Issey wrote that he's thankful that his family is safe and he's also relieved to learn that the victim had only suffered minor injuries.

According to a report by The Star, the police stated: “At the time, the driver, in his 30s, intended to reverse into a parking space in front of a pet food store, but he accidentally stepped on the accelerator pedal, causing the car to reverse at high speed.

“The car hit a five-year-old girl who was walking along the pathway and also the shop’s front entrance.

“The girl was brought to hospital for treatment after sustaining light injuries to the face. She was discharged ... after her condition was deemed stable,”

Talking to mStar – The Star's Malay-language portal – Issey said that his wife and child were traumatised after the experience.

"Everyone is OK, but they are a bit traumatised. My son became quiet that night. My wife also just sat silently."

According to Issey, his son thought the shop was collapsing because the noise was so loud.

"It was a close call ... It is only by the grace of God that my son wasn't injured," he said to mStar.

"At that time, he was happily looking at the cats in the shop. Who knew that such an incident would happen?"

The radio personality added: "My nephew called me; I was on my way home at that time. Luckily, our house is not far from the shop.

"I ran to the shop ... I was very worried, not knowing how they were. My nephew just told me that there was an accident involving the pet shop.

“I couldn't ask him too many questions as the police had arrived at the scene.”

Issey also expressed concern for the victim and said he didn't know of her condition as she had been taken to the hospital for treatment already. He only found out about her condition later.

Issey added that the driver of the car apologised to him following the accident.

"He apologised and felt guilty as there were so many victims involved.

"My intention in sharing this is simply to raise awareness among the public to prevent such incidents from happening again," he said on why he uploaded the video on social media.
