Last December, former TVB actress Hiromi Wada – better known as Hiromi – asked the Internet to help find her Japanese father who she had not seen since she was 12.
At the time, Hiromi, who was born and raised in Hong Kong, shared several family photos and provided information about her father – including his name, height and place of birth.
Although the 35-year-old received leads on her father's whereabouts within five hours, it took nine months before she successfully located him.
Sharing an Instagram reel of herself with her parents on Sept 6, Hiromi wrote: "I was looking for my dad in Japan and I finally found him! I can now die without regrets.
"It's been over 20 years since I last saw you. I miss you so much, dad!"
In an interview with Hong Kong media, Hiromi revealed that her parents often argued when she was young – causing her to develop a dislike for her father.
As she grew older, however, she was able to let go of past grudges and made it her mission to reconnect and reconcile with her father.
Sharing about the measures she took to locate her father, the actress said that she had tried sending letters to their old home in Japan and even sought help from the Japanese embassy in Hong Kong.
Unfortunately, all her efforts were futile.
In her Instagram post, Hiromi admitted that although she had mixed feelings about the long separation, no words were necessary now as her family was reunited.
She also said that she plans to pay frequent visits to her father, who is currently living alone in Japan.
"Dad said that if (my mum and I) aren't happy staying in Hong Kong, we are welcome to live with him in Japan anytime.
"I love you mum and dad. You guys are the most important people to me," she wrote.
Many netizens have since left comments expressing happiness for Hiromi and her family.
Some also said that they were touched by the story and wished her family good health and happiness.
