Chinese actress Xu Jiao, who played Hong Kong superstar Stephen Chow’s son in CJ7 (2008), recently reunited with her on-screen dad for the film’s 15th anniversary celebration.

In a Weibo post on Tuesday (Sept 19), Xu Jiao, 26, revealed that she will be returning to Chow’s company, Star Overseas.

Her post was also accompanied by a photo of herself with Chow, 61, who could be seen holding up two CJ7 plush toys the actress personally made for the filmmaker.

“In the blink of an eye, I’m back!” she captioned her post.

Xu Jiao was previously signed to Chow’s agency but took a step back from the spotlight in 2013 to study in the US – where she graduated with a bachelor's degree in fine arts in California.

She also took on small roles in shows like Ice Fantasy, Midnight Dinner and Love Like The Galaxy during study breaks.

Chow shared the same photo of their reunion on his Instagram account.

In his post, the filmmaker wrote: “Today, I was caught in shock. The mischievous boy from CJ7, Zhou Xiaodi, has turned into a beautiful lady! The vast universe is truly full of surprises!”

He also announced a special competition in conjunction with the film’s 15th anniversary, where five lucky winners will receive a “mysterious prize”.

Chow’s post quickly gained traction, accumulating over 167,000 likes at press time.

Several netizens praised Xu Jiao for growing up so well while others said they were surprised it has been 15 years since CJ7 was released.

Meanwhile, Hong Kong media reported that Chow has interest in creating a CJ7 sequel in which he plans to have Xu Jiao play the role of a mother.
