Hong Kong actor Bosco Wong has responded to the rumours that he and Chinese actress Wan Zilin are married and have a child together.

Rumours of the pair’s apparent romance surfaced on Monday (Oct 9) after a social media user – who claimed "to be close to someone in the entertainment industry" – said that Wong and Wan are secretly married.

The news quickly gained traction on Weibo and shot up to the top spot of the platform’s hot search list.

Reacting to the rumours, Wong, 42, told Hong Kong media: “This is so funny. I’m sorry but may I ask who this lady is? It’s either our friend (the netizen who broke the news) made a typo or (the people involved) share the same name.”

Echoing the former TVB actor’s response is actress Wan, 25, who made it clear that she had never met Wong before.

“I don’t recognise Mr Wong, and I think (the rumour) is outrageous,” she lamented in a Weibo post.

The iPartment 5 star also responded to a netizen under her post, saying: “Nowadays, anyone can simply say anything and it will appear on the hot search.”

Wan is not the first celebrity to be romantically linked to Wong.

Since breaking up with his girlfriend of eight years, Hong Kong actress Myolie Wu, in 2012, the Forensic Heroes V actor has been linked to stars like Rose Chan, Jennifer Yu and Sophia Zhang.

However, he denied being romantically involved with any of them.

Earlier in March, Wong assured fans that he’s not lonely despite being single at his age. He added that he has no interest in getting married as he grew up in a single-parent household.

"I have so many friends and am so busy. I'm never lonely during holidays as (my friends) would hold many house parties,” he said at the time.
