Andy Lau may be one of Hong Kong's most bankable film stars today, but he doesn't plan on retiring anytime soon.
According to South China Morning Post, Lau recorded an estimated net worth of US$70mil (RM330.6mil) last year.
In a recent interview to promote his latest film, Moscow Mission, the 62-year-old said that the reason he's still and will continue working hard is because he doesn't want to set a bad example for the young ones.
Lau, who married former Malaysian model Carol Chu in 2008, has an 11-year-old daughter named Hanna.
Speaking to Youku Movies, Lau said: "I (have a kid of my own) in the family. If any children see me (laying around doing nothing), they might wonder when they will become like (me). This will set a bad example."
The Heavenly King added that he could be doing nothing. However, he would be unable to stop himself from thinking about work by the fourth day.
"When it comes to my (acting career), I'm not seeking personal breakthroughs but rather hoping to live a more valuable life," he said.
This isn't the first time Lau has displayed impressive work ethic and dedication to his craft. In 2020, the actor was praised by netizens for always arriving on set on time and having already memorised his lines.
When asked by reporters if it was hard to be a model actor, Lau remained humble and said: "Isn't that what all actors should do?"
The Infernal Affairs (2002) star also said in a past interview that he doesn't consider himself to be an exemplary actor and that being hardworking is just in his nature.
"I'm accustomed to being hardworking. It's misleading to say I'm a model worker, but I guess it's good to encourage young people," he said.
