If you are into sounds of traditional drums playing to the beat of Datuk M. Nasir songs, then his upcoming Gendang Pati concert is something you don’t want to miss.

Gendang Pati Datuk M. Nasir Live in Kuala Lumpur is set to take place at Plenary Hall, Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre on Nov 18, 2023, 8pm.

At this concert, Nasir will be performing 20 of his hit songs along with musicians who have been accompanying him throughout his long career including Nan Alias, Rafi Mohd (rhythm guitar), Norman (bass), Firdaus Mahmud, Eddie Slam (keyboard) and Ujang Exists (drums).

Of course, there are more percussionists involved in this Gendang Pati showcase namely Paang, Mat Din, Che Long and Anas. The concert will also feature Awe, as a guest percussionist, who will also be playing the rebab and serunai.

In conversation with mStar – The Star’s Malay-language portal – the 66-year-old artiste said: "This time, we are focusing on traditional drum arrangements in the music I have created, such as in the songs Mentera Semerah Padi, Ada and several others.

"All the songs with rhythms that can sung collectively will have a dramatic element that we will incorporate into this performance.”

Besides preparing for the concert, the legendary singer is also busy producing a new album.

“I hope this album will be ready at the end of this year ... after spending four years searching for inspiration.

"There may have been a lot of inspiration in the past, but music changes rapidly," he told mStar the challenges of composing new songs. "...Other commitments I have are also slowing down the process."

Tickets for the concert are available at prices ranging from RM228 (Bronze), RM258 (Silver), RM388 (Gold), RM428 (Platinum), RM488 (Diamond), to RM888 (Meet & Greet) and can be booked through the MyTicket.Asia website.
