British pop superstar Rod Stewart is finally set to play in Kuala Lumpur on March 4, 2024.
It's a case of better late than never for the raspy-voiced singer who was scheduled to stage a concert at Stadium Merdeka on Aug 31, 1995.
As The Star reported that year, the concert was “postponed to a later date this year (1995) in deference to National Day”.
However, a new date never materialised and Stewart never came back to KL after that.
Well, 29 years later, the 78-year-old singer gets to keep that promise to his Malaysian fans.
He is bringing his Live In Concert, One Last Time Asian tour to Axiata Arena, next year.
Pre-sale tickets will be available for online purchase on Nov 9 at 10am, while general sales will go live on Nov 10, from noon onwards.

The Da Ya Think I’m Sexy singer will also be stopping at Bangkok, Hong Kong, Kaohsiung, Manila, Tokyo and Singapore.
Stewart had performed in Singapore in 1995 as well 2009,and will be playing two nights in 2024, making it the only Asian city where he performs more than one night.
“It has been 15 years since my last Asian tour, which is far too long. I truly cannot wait to return with a setlist of all my biggest hits and one of the most extraordinary productions of my career. It’s going to be quite a bash,” Stewart said in a statement.
Stewart has released 32 albums, with the last one being The Tears Of Hercules, released in 2021.
As reported by The Straits Times, Stewart has no plans to stop singing although one might jump to that conclusion looking at the title of his current tour.
“I shall never retire. I was put on this earth to be a singer and will keep doing so for as long as the good Lord lets me,” he wrote in an Instagram post in June 2023.
