Singapore’s Aggregate Films and IFA Media will be conducting a nationwide audition in Malaysia to look for young actors for their new film Ah Girl.

They are looking for newcomers – two child talents – to star in the film to be directed by Ang Geck Geck, based on the director’s own childhood years.

Set in the 1990s, Singapore, the story unravels from "the perspective of the child going through the stress of that situation and having to make important decisions that will affect her life to come”.

Ang's debut short film, Broken Crayon, received numerous accolades and won the Best Short Film award at the Singapore Short Film Festival in 2013. She has since directed two other short films.

The auditions for Ah Girl are set to take place during the school holidays (Dec 16-Jan 2024, as well Feb 10-March 10) in Malaysia.

Details about the casting call will be distributed to schools, agencies, acting schools throughout Malaysia. So, keep an eye for that if you are interested.

“We hope to discover and bring fresh faces to screen, giving the cast ensemble (Singaporean and Malaysian actors) a refreshing dynamic,” said Josclynne Kua, a producer and casting director.
